Union members from a wide variety of educational contexts recently participated in a ‘Dealing With Difficult People’ workshop, facilitated by ETC trainer, Cherry Bogunovich.
Determining appropriate strategies to use when confronting difficult behaviours and developing responding techniques for communicating effectively, grew from charting the typical behaviours, needs and fears of different types of ‘difficult people’.
Participants worked both collaboratively and independently in order to identify behaviours and practices that they encounter in the workplace.
Reviewing the components of the conflict cycle enabled participants to reflect on ‘hot-button issues’ and to consider how to approach conflict in effective ways.
The SSTUWA is confident that such workshops will encourage members to voice workplace policy, awards and agreements to effect positive changes in safe workplaces.
