ME Bank follows RBA -holds interest rates

members-equity-bank2ME Bank has today announced that it will hold its standard variable interest rates following the Reserve Bank’s decision to maintain the official cash rate at 4.25%. Keeping rates stable ensures that customers will continue to receive a fairer rate than those offered by the big banks. “Raising interest rates in a declining rate environment is a clear signal that the major banks are looking to place the full financial burden of the higher cost of funding onto their customers,” said ME Bank CEO Jamie McPhee.

First Title Property Risk Insurance

Your home can be stolen, just like a car or bike. While it is nearly impossible for someone to pick up a house and take off with it, housing theft still occurs by way of title fraud.

These types of scams have recently been at the forefront of local media. The West Australian newspaper reported the August theft of a house from an unsuspecting Ballajura family while they were overseas. Scammers posed as the property owners to a local, well known real estate agency who subsequently sold the property for $400,000. In June 2010, a homeowner lost his Karrinyup estate, worth $485,000, when it was illegally sold in a similar manner.

Channel 9 News reported on 23 August 2011 that “Up to 400 WA property title transactions are being re-examined...Consumer Protection Commissioner Anne Driscoll has warned there could be more cases that have not yet been detected.”

No WorkChoices WA

Troy Buswell and the State Government have appointed a former Howard Government industrial relations advocate to review Western Australian workplace laws and will soon announce changes that could affect up to 300,000 Western Australian workers' jobs and livelihoods.

For Our Future

Public schools are a foundation stone of our society. They are places of learning, of inspiration and opportunity where every Australian child can get the education they deserve.  It's the key to a strong economy, a skilled workforce and a socially cohesive society.

Save Our Schools

Public education should be free and open to all to ensure non-selective and non-discriminatory access to a high quality education. Every child has a right to be educated; to develop as a human being. This basic capability should not be denied to anyone, either by design, apathy or neglect.
