Public Meetings: Federal Schools’ Funding Review

State School Teachers' Union of Western Australia The Australian Education Union is launching a new national campaign today calling for a greater federal investment in public schools to help them meet the needs of every child. The Federal Schools’ Funding Review

For the first time since 1973, the Federal Government is undertaking a comprehensive review of its schools’ funding arrangements. The parent group WACSSO and the SSTUWA are working jointly to support local school communities contribute to this ‘once in a life time’ opportunity to ensure government schools get a ‘fair and wquitable share’ of federal schools’ funds.

You can help your local government school have a voice. You can tell the story of your schools’ needs.

Come along and find out about the review and how you can help your local school.

Our public schools are achieving great outcomes. But those outcomes are being achieved through higher teacher workloads and an increasing reliance on fundraising by parents.

We need a better federal funding system that meets the needs of all our children – now and in the future. Public schools receive only one third of the money the Federal Government spends on schools even though they teach two thirds of the students.

More resources for public schools would mean lower class sizes and greater individual attention for every child.
