Gonski schools funding review: Have your say

for-our-future-imageYesterday brought the release of the final report of the Gonski Review of school funding -  a once in a generation opportunity to reform Australia’s school funding system.

The report revealed an urgent need for the reform of school funding arrangements and an investment of at least an extra $3.8 billion a year in public schools.

Now you can have your say in how the Government responds .

It is a tribute to the efforts of parents, teachers and principals that the review recommended such a significant increase.

Input to the Review included 18 months of research, expert hearings and 7000 submissions. The findings show the dysfunctional and inequitable nature of the current school funding arrangements.

Despite the overwhelming response from the public, the Federal Government has not yet made a commitment to implement the Review’s recommendations, and instead intends to hold further community consultation .

Beginning with an online forum on Wednesday 22nd February, the Government is seeking feedback online , by public forums , Facebook and Twitter .

Make sure you have your say.

Click here to tell the Government that students and teachers in public schools have waited long enough .

New legislation is urgently needed to ensure a fairer funding system is put in place to better meet the needs of all students.

The Government cannot delay any longer. Have your say and make sure they know resources delayed are resources denied.

Thank you again for your support in this great campaign.

Let’s keep up the pressure until we get the resources our children deserve.

If you haven’t already emailed the Prime Minister on the importance of better public school funding, it’s more important than ever to send a message .

No WorkChoices WA

Troy Buswell and the State Government have appointed a former Howard Government industrial relations advocate to review Western Australian workplace laws and will soon announce changes that could affect up to 300,000 Western Australian workers' jobs and livelihoods.

For Our Future

Public schools are a foundation stone of our society. They are places of learning, of inspiration and opportunity where every Australian child can get the education they deserve.  It's the key to a strong economy, a skilled workforce and a socially cohesive society.

Save Our Schools

Public education should be free and open to all to ensure non-selective and non-discriminatory access to a high quality education. Every child has a right to be educated; to develop as a human being. This basic capability should not be denied to anyone, either by design, apathy or neglect.
