Research Participants Needed: I invite those of you who teach in the secondary area to participate in a survey looking at the experiences of secondary relief teachers.
You will be asked to complete a short anonymous questionnaire online about your relief teaching experiences. You may also be invited for an interview.
The survey is part of a doctoral study undertaken by Laszlo Bubrik, Murdoch University. The outcomes of his study may improve teaching and learning and the work experiences of relief teachers.
The outcomes of this research will provide insights into the experiences of relief teachers and how these will lessen the disturbance to the teaching and learning programme for both students and teachers and improve the work experiences of relief teachers.
Relief teaching is common practice in everyday schooling. Many studies have been conducted on relief teaching and relief teachers’ work generally and in the primary school sector, however, we know very little about relief teachers’ experiences in secondary schools.
The fundamental assumption of this study is that relief teachers are a vital educational resource. Research indicates that students’ behaviours and their attitudes change when relief teachers replace classroom teachers thus relief teaching impacts negatively on the continuous teaching and learning of students and on classroom teachers’.
If you are willing to participate in this study, please complete the online questionnaire at
