Climate Connectors is an initiative for Australian Union and Community activists Please sign up and encourage friends and colleagues to do the same.
The AEU & SSTUWA strongly supports action to reduce climate change and to secure an environmentally sustainable future.
The ACTU has established the Climate Connectors concept to encourage union members' action in their workplaces and for the union movement to be involved in the solutions for the future.
As educators we have shown our commitment to teaching about environmental concerns and involving students in action for change.
The AEU encourages union members to now sign up to become a Climate Connector and extend sustainable practices throughout their workplace and their communities.
Union Climate Connectors: Make A Difference
How often do you get a chance to save the world?
Between now and December we all have an opportunity to do just that. The scientists tell us that if we achieve a global agreement on climate change in Copenhagen in December, a successor to the Kyoto protocol, we may be able to save the Barrier Reef, stop 100 million people from being displaced and minimise the increased number and intensity of cyclones, bushfires, floods and droughts.
That gives us three months.
Unions have a proud history of campaigning on environmental issues. But rarely have the stakes been as high as they are now.
We’re offering union members and their friends who are deeply concerned and want to do something about climate change the chance to participate in Union Climate Connectors; to sign on to a national campaign, with professional training, resources and tools.
The Australian Conservation Foundation will provide kits, web tools, organisers available over the phone, face to face training (in association with the ACTU Organising Centre), everything you need to campaign in your workplace and in your community.
SO sign up today.
