Important update for part-time workers!
Under recent changes the Department now requires a work fraction of 0.5 full-time equivalent (FTE) to access GROH housing. This has caused numerous inquiries from Union members concerned about the equity impact of the change.
After discussion with the SSTUWA, the Department has clarified the application of this policy to those who worked a fraction less than 0.5 FTE prior to the introduction of this change (April 2011).
These employees will be given until the end of 2014 (ie start of the 2015 school year) to increase their work fraction to 0.5 FTE or greater in order to retain their GROH property.
The new policy also states that an employee working less than 0.5 FTE may be considered for accommodation on a conditional tenancy basis, depending on availability.
The union understands that letters will be going out shortly to relevant employees from the Department.
