Early Childhood Member Survey

earlychildhood-002The focus on ECE education is important.

Much is happening in this space and the Federal and State Unions are seeking your views with regard to associated changes. Such information is essential to assist us more effectively represent teacher views in national forums, with Education Ministers and the Department.

The Australian Education Union is conducting a national survey of its Early Childhood Education members concerning the roll-out of the Federal Government’s ‘National Framework for Early Childhood Education and Care.

The purpose of this survey is to gather first-hand evidence from across Australia about the impact of the roll-out of the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education on member’s work.

Your responses to the survey will provide valuable information to the AEU and will be used to:

  • inform our efforts in lobbying for public provision of ECE in Australia;
  • argue for greater support from governments where needed
  • assist in informing the development of the next steps of the AEU’s lobbying and advocacy at a national level.

Structural differences in the provision of early childhood education around the country, and variations in terminology, may make responding to some questions difficult. However the AEU is attempting to develop a national picture of the impact of the roll-out of the national reforms on members’ work, and provide state and territory information in a nationally consistent way. For this reason, the language used in the survey is generic and may not be the same terminology used to describe the sector in a particular state or territory (for example, preschool/kindergarten).

Your input would be greatly appreciated and we urge you to take part in this on-line survey. The survey will take no more than 10 minutes of your time. No site or individual will be identified in any way in reporting the data from the survey.

The survey can be accessed by clicking on this link:

The survey will be active (available for completion) until midnight on Friday 7 September 2012.We hope you will find the time to add your views to those of your colleagues and assist us to collect this information.
