This conference is dedicated to supporting primary and secondary teachers in their first five years. You might be teaching full-time in a school, a graduate who is working as a relief teacher or even still searching for a teaching position. The day will provide each delegate with a valuable opportunity to increase their knowledge, skills and confidence across a range of industrial, professional, personal, financial and inspirational topics. Join us here at the SSTUWA to network with other new educators and to learn how to move beyond just working hard.
KEFI is a Greek word that means ‘zest for life’ and people who are engaged in life and work have plenty of it. Enjoy a KEFI KICK with this fascinating, fun and high-energy presentation that will help you find your KEFI, keep your Kefi and share your KEFI with others to build a positive classroom.
Over the years there have been a number of great movies about inspirational teachers such as ‘To Sir With Love’, ‘Dead Poets Society’ and ‘Mr Holland’s Opus’. Common themes include a passion for teaching and a great connection with students - but what does it really take to become an exceptional educator? How do we get this passion and connection we see in the movies and maintain the energy and enthusiasm we need week after week, year after year.
This keynote will examine the key characteristics of inspirational teachers and reveal the vital things you need to think, say and do to in order to motivate and inspire your students - and remain inspired yourself.
A series of rich practical breakout workshops will be offered and presented by a range of outstanding educators.

We wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work. We wish to pay respect to their Elders - past, present and future - and acknowledge the important role all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within Australia. We stand in solidarity.
