Alternative working arrangements
The Department of Education has sent a detailed circular to principals on how to apply the Alternative Working Arrangements (AWA) for staff. You can read that guidance here.
Members should be aware of the categories eligible for AWA and that principals have to work within these guidelines. If you feel the decision is unfair then you can contact Member Assist for support – but if you do not fall within the defined categories there is no guarantee you will be eligible for AWA.
Members who are granted permission to work from home should ensure there is a clear understanding of expectations as to what work is to be carried out from home, including the level of contact with students etc.
All members should be aware that during pupil free days and once the holidays finish all schools will be open for:
- Children of parents and carers who need their children to attend school to maintain employment.
- Children who live in families with aged relatives.
- Children where it is safer for them to be at school.
Regional travel restrictions
The latest advice on travel restrictions within WA can be found here. Please be aware new restrictions apply within the Kimberley.
