June State Council cancelled

The SSTUWA Executive has taken the decision to cancel the June State Council meeting scheduled for 12 and 13 June 2020. This is a decision not taken lightly, as the holding of SC at least twice a year is required by the rules of the SSTUWA. However, under the current circumstances, with a State of Emergency in operation and travel restrictions in place, it was the view of Executive that the necessary requirements for the conduct of SC could not be met.

Clarification of announcement relating to State Council Delegate elections.

Yesterday’s enews contained a statement to the effect that the second round of elections for State Council delegates had been cancelled. Please be aware that this is due to the Australian Electoral Commission cancelling all elections which were underway. The AEC will resume the conduct of these elections at a later date.

While the SSTUWA June State Council has been cancelled, those delegates elected in the first round, whose positions have been formally declared by the AEC Returning Officer, will continue to hold delegate status for the November State Council. Sufficient numbers for a quorum have been elected.

If the AEC is able to complete the second round of elections prior to the proposed November State Council, a full complement of delegates will be able to attend.
