The State School Teachers’ Union WA (SSTUWA) continues to provide Early Childhood Educators with opportunities to develop effective industrial and professional practice, understandings and knowledge. This forum will focus on the integration of English and Digital Technologies.
The SSTUWA welcomes Carlene Thorpe to explore how to plan for effective teaching and learning using the WA Curriculum by integrating English and Digital Technologies.
Carlene Thorpe is an outstanding educator, Instructional Leader and an Associate Principal at Oberthur Primary School.
Carlene will provide a highly practical, energetic afternoon that will really deepen your understanding about the use and integration of these two important areas of the curriculum.
Children become literate as they develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions to interpret and use language confidently and effectively. Digital Technologies in the early years, focuses on developing computational thinking skills, engaging in personal experiences using digital systems and creating solutions.
How can we plan for effective teaching and learning by integrating English and Digital Technologies?
Participants will develop their knowledge and understanding of the WA curriculum as Carlene guides them to:

Members in schools and TAFE colleges are eligible for five days of paid leave per year to attend trade union training (TUT).
To comply with TUT leave requirements applicants must:
Submit applications to DoE/principal four weeks prior to the event.
This leave provision covers teacher relief for members attending SSTUWA TUT courses.
