The SSTUWA Early Childhood Educator Conference is an opportunity for early childhood educators within our union to come together.
Please join us to welcome Professor Marc Armitage to this event. Marc is a speaker, writer and researcher in the field of children's play. He travels the world imparting his knowledge on the role and play in children's learning and on what impact this should have on our working practice. Born in the UK and now based in Australia, Marc is a well respected speaker who brings a solid research-based approach to learning more about play, delivered with a great deal of humour and the occasional surprise.
Marc headlines as our keynote speaker, and invites members to also participate in an optional follow-up workshop.
There does appear to be some genuine confusion about the role of play in a learning context, despite the prominence of the phrase 'learning through play' and a body of research material that would fill a small warehouse.
Marc's presentation aims to sift through that confusion by tackling it head on - we will define what play is, define what learning is and then look at what the connection might be between the two. The answer may not be quite what you are expecting!
Educators will be invited to select from a suite of breakout sessions addressing professional, personal and industrial issues specific to early childhood education including:
You will communicate more non-judgmentally with others as soon as you stop being less non-judgmental with yourself.
Deb will leave you laughing and at the end of the day you will feel inspired and informed.
