About the course
There have been significant changes in applying for teaching positions in the Department of Education. This half day course is designed to provide participants with an awareness of current job application techniques. Participants will gain an understanding of the current requirements for demonstrating competitiveness when applying to specific schools via a covering letter and curriculum vitae (CV)/resume.
Participants will explore the importance of reflecting individual school context when demonstrating their skills and experience in relation to the three Domains of Teaching: Professional Knowledge, Professional Practice and Professional Engagement.
The techniques and skills from this workshop can be applied to both non-IPS and IPS job applications.
If you already have something in draft form, please feel free to bring it along to reflect on during the session.
Please note this course is not applicable to teachers applying for Level 3 Classroom Teacher.
Outcomes
On completion of the workshop participants will have:
- Examined changing application requirements for teaching positions.
- Explored how to communicate their competitiveness through a covering letter and CV/resume.
- Explored the required Domains of Teaching in the context of a position.
- Investigated a format for developing a covering letter and CV.
