Students (and adults) impacted by trauma may show behaviours that are challenging to manage in a school setting. These students may also experience difficulty in learning - academically, socially and emotionally.
Being trauma-informed allows teachers to build relationships that create "brain healthy classrooms" based on empathy and understanding. These workshops explain the neuro-biological impact of trauma and neglect so are essential for all educators.
Many of the strategies that are recommended for students impacted by trauma are also extremely effective for those students experiencing anxiety. The prevelenace of anxiety is increasing and teachers need to understand it's origin and simple ways they can create safe and predicatable classroom environments.
