Committees

working-togetherThe State School Teachers' Union of Western Australia is actively involved in a wide range of issues and foums surrounding education. From industrial working parties through to educational issues, the SSTUWA represents its members and students in Western Austalia's state schools. Executive from time to time determines which Committees are to be established, and nominations are called in the first issue of the Western Teacher each year.Committees currently operating are:

  • Aboriginal Education Committee
  • Educational Leaders
  • B-Legits (representing gay, lesbian, bisexual, intersex and transgender teachers and their supportrs)
  • Country Matters Working Party
  • International Committee
  • Psychology Services Committee
  • Women’s Committee

four-membersThese committees are elected at the November State Council meeting each year.  Nominations called in August/September each year.

If the election is being conducted by the West Australian Election Commission, enquiries should be directed to the returning officer named in their advertisement.

Save Our Schools

Public education should be free and open to all to ensure non-selective and non-discriminatory access to a high quality education. Every child has a right to be educated; to develop as a human being. This basic capability should not be denied to anyone, either by design, apathy or neglect.
