The SSTUWA Education & Training Centre offers high quality professional and industrial training courses to Western Australian teachers. With a team of highly experienced and motivated staff and excellent visiting experts, our courses are designed to help teachers thrive in the classroom. From Industrial Awareness courses to Tribes and TOPS Training, the ETC offers the best training options for WA Teachers.
The SSTUWA Education and Training Centre is arranging for training in the following ways:
  • TOPS Full day Workshops: Kindergarten to Yr 10:  Intro full day workshops: An extended day to understand the basics of the program, its content potential and practice actual planning and recording for your class. This essential introduction workshop is held in the union office:
  • Twilight workshops: A basic introduction course on how to access and use TOPS. These workshops are for 1½ hours and will be held at your school.  Cost: $70 per member. Contact the ETC to organise a workshop at your school.
  • Special Interest Groups: full day courses will be offered to meet specific teacher group needs. For example, K/P, RTS, relief, new educators. See the ETC website training schedule for detail.
Note: Any of the full day courses can be run in a country region or at your school.

At the end of the workshop, teachers will be able to access the program, navigate through the 950 support documents, create and adapt their plans, import their documents and use some of the digital student learning resources.

Country schools can also request the above courses and workshops at times and dates suited to the schools. Where possible a series of workshops will be arranged within the district. Please contact us to help us organise training in your area.

No WorkChoices WA

Troy Buswell and the State Government have appointed a former Howard Government industrial relations advocate to review Western Australian workplace laws and will soon announce changes that could affect up to 300,000 Western Australian workers' jobs and livelihoods.

For Our Future

Public schools are a foundation stone of our society. They are places of learning, of inspiration and opportunity where every Australian child can get the education they deserve.  It's the key to a strong economy, a skilled workforce and a socially cohesive society.

Save Our Schools

Public education should be free and open to all to ensure non-selective and non-discriminatory access to a high quality education. Every child has a right to be educated; to develop as a human being. This basic capability should not be denied to anyone, either by design, apathy or neglect.
