The Early Childhood Reference Group met recently to have some discussion about the current status and issues concerning Early Childhood Education. There are many matters of concern that have been identified and one of our goals is to broaden our engagement with educators working in this sector, so that pertinent issues can be addressed.
One matter that is of great concern is the current Federal Government’s engagement of the Boston Consultative Group to develop Australia’s new National Early Childhood Development Strategy.
Early Childhood Educators are well placed to know what is best for young children in Australia. It is difficult to not be alarmed that an American Consultative Company is to develop a strategy for early Australian learners.
As educators of young children we need to be proactive around influencing the Federal Governments agenda and at our next ECE Reference Group meeting we hope to meet with a lobbyist to plan a campaign to do so.
If you are an Early Childhood Educator we would welcome you to come along, or participate via the teleconference.
