2008 General Agreement Update - May 2011

sstuwa-2009-ece-forum-007CTP & RTS Sick Leave [GA 2008 Clause 37.7 and Clause 42.4]: Members in CTP or RTS schools who have accessed sick leave are encouraged to check with their administration to ensure sick leave is being taken from the right source.

If not, you should be seeking re-imbursement of this leave. If you have a problem at this point, please contact Member Assist (have relevant documents/evidence ready before you phone please).

Members in CTP and RTS schools have access to an additional five (5) days per annum sick leave.

This sick leave:

  • (a) Accumulates while the member is in service in a CTP or RTS school;
  • (b) Is to be accessed BEFORE the ‘ordinary sick leave is accessed;
  • (c) On leaving the CTP or RTS school, any of this leave unused is lost.

School Psychologist Career Path: Discussions are progressing through the Career Strategy Reference Group to progress the development of a process for the position of Advanced Skills School Psychologist.

The aim is to be in a position to have this position included in the 2011 General Agreement.

Teacher Workload Audit: The Union is expecting to meet shortly with the DoE to receive the report from the Audit of Teacher Workload.

In the meantime, our Union will be running a journal on out of hours workload for to assist with negotiations.

A call will also be made shortly to assess the impacts flowing into schools associated with the introduction of the Australian Curriculum.

Public education should be free and open to all to ensure non-selective and non-discriminatory access to a high quality education. Every child has a right to be educated; to develop as a human being. This basic capability should not be denied to anyone, either by design, apathy or neglect.
