November 15: National Public Education Day

disadvantaged-science

Are you prepared for NATIONAL PUBLIC EDUCATION DAY – Tuesday 15 November 2011.

On November 15 join parents, teachers and principals across Australia in sending a final  message to the review about the importance of  investing more in our public schools.

This day has been nominated jointly by the national parent group ACSSO, the teachers and school leaders federal union (AEU) and the national principals’ associations AGPP and ASPA to encourage public school communities to raise awareness of the Federal Schools’ Funding Review.

The biggest review of school funding in over 30 years finishes in December. The Review of Funding for Schooling is due to report by the end of this year.

We hope that it recommends the establishment of a new, fairer schools funding model and that the federal government will have the courage to implement this through legislation.

Send your message at   www.forourfuture.org.au  Your support will make a difference.

To encourage this, the SSTUWA asks that you distribute the enclosed leaflets to parents in the usual  way.

Downloadable copies of the leaflet in various community languages are also available below.

I thank you for your efforts to achieve fair funding for our public schools..

No WorkChoices WA

Troy Buswell and the State Government have appointed a former Howard Government industrial relations advocate to review Western Australian workplace laws and will soon announce changes that could affect up to 300,000 Western Australian workers' jobs and livelihoods.

For Our Future

Public schools are a foundation stone of our society. They are places of learning, of inspiration and opportunity where every Australian child can get the education they deserve.  It's the key to a strong economy, a skilled workforce and a socially cohesive society.

Save Our Schools

Public education should be free and open to all to ensure non-selective and non-discriminatory access to a high quality education. Every child has a right to be educated; to develop as a human being. This basic capability should not be denied to anyone, either by design, apathy or neglect.
