TAFE Claims Update & Member Action

protest-silver-cityVarious TAFE Branches have held meetings and directed their members to undertake specific actions in support of their claim.

As “in principle” agreement has now been reached, all industrial action is to cease immediately.

Other branches are still to meet on this matter. The actions the branches who have met are listed below.

There are two major issues which the employers are unwilling to take off the table.

1. Changes to your ARD conditions – Amendment 1

“Remove the distinction between PA and ARD time, creating a „non-lecturing? category of time (16.5 hours). The use of this time would be negotiated between lecturer and manager. Time worked off campus would be by agreement between lecturer and manager”.

Please note that there are a couple of alternative permutations of the above being pushed by the employers.

2. Removal of conversion to permanency policy.

The employers will not agree to our tabled clause which would provide for permanency after 2 years.

No WorkChoices WA

Troy Buswell and the State Government have appointed a former Howard Government industrial relations advocate to review Western Australian workplace laws and will soon announce changes that could affect up to 300,000 Western Australian workers' jobs and livelihoods.

For Our Future

Public schools are a foundation stone of our society. They are places of learning, of inspiration and opportunity where every Australian child can get the education they deserve.  It's the key to a strong economy, a skilled workforce and a socially cohesive society.

Save Our Schools

Public education should be free and open to all to ensure non-selective and non-discriminatory access to a high quality education. Every child has a right to be educated; to develop as a human being. This basic capability should not be denied to anyone, either by design, apathy or neglect.
