At the start of each year, union members at your worksite should meet to organise your branch of the SSTUWA. It is generally the responsibility of the previous year’s union representative to arrange this meeting. The rep (or other member) should use the information in Getting Organised to build the worksite branch for 2026.
As one of the agenda items of the first meeting of the year, the outgoing representative (or deputy) should conduct elections for branch positions, record the results on the nominations for branch office bearers form and return the form to the SSTUWA.
Branch elections must be conducted every year, even if positions have not changed.
The SSTUWA rules allow for one branch member per position, for all positions:
Refer to the information here for role descriptors.

We wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work. We wish to pay respect to their Elders - past, present and future - and acknowledge the important role all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within Australia. We stand in solidarity.
