All teachers are entitled to a safe work place free from physical and mental hazards and risks. A safeworkplace is the right of every employee in Australia.

On this part of the site you will find information on the law, safety representatives, hazards, safety and health news, compensation, rehabilitation and counselling and links to other relevant sites.

The most important reason to make your workplace safe is not at work at all. On average 51 Western Australians are injured at work each day. There are a number of simple things that can be done to assist in making the workplace a safer place. If you aren't in a position to implement change, consult with someone who can. osh-school-fixing

The Union movement in Australia has fought and campaigned relentlessly to improve the safety, health and welfare of workers. Initially their involvement was in securing compensation for employees injured at work. In the 1980’s their attention turned to a legislative base for the safety of workers aimed at prevention. This has led to the comprehensive safety and health legislation that exists in Western Australia and other Australian States and Territories.
