In the first weeks of Term 3 the Rep received an envelope of information from the Union. Included in this was information on the SSTUWA Anti-Violence Campaign. Equal Opportunity Contact Officers (EOCO)

DET has EOCO’s throughout schools, district offices and central office. Would your school benefit from training in working harmoniously, bullying and resolving conflict, or are you interested in training as an EOCO? Contact the DET Equity and Diversity team on 9264 5155 for further information.

SSTUWA Training Opportunities

For those in the country contact the SSTU Education & Training Centre for available courses. Each union member is entitled to 5 days of TUTA leave for training per year. Enrolment forms are available on the website or by contacting the SSTU Education & Training Centre

District Councils

District Councils are happening in term 3. Information on dates and venues has been faxed to schools. All members are encouraged to attend.

The AWE is an association committed to the full participation of women and girls in education. Hundreds of lesson plans to help you put gender back on the agenda, as well as readings and resources for professional learning.

This site shows us clearly that not all girls have access to education and in fact we have failed the Millennium Development Goal of gender parity in primary and secondary education by 2005.

This campaign site explains the reality of many girls’ lives, those missing out on basic education and how important the participation in social activities such as sport can help support the calls for equal access to education.

An excellent resource for use with students. An Introduction to Indigenous Australia

The ACTU Worksite for Schools website was relaunched on 1 July to coincide with the new IR laws. Worksite is about helping students understand their rights so they can enjoy them and get the most out of work. It provides union information for school students and resources for teachers.

• Understanding Money

This website has some great information. It talks about women's attitudes and behaviour on a range of money topics from budgeting and saving to getting ready for retirement. There is also a section about teaching financial literacy in schools, suitable for Kindergarten to Year 10 students.
