Years 3-6 of schooling provide the opportunity for teachers to build on the strong foundations for mathematics learning laid in the early years. In these middle years it is important that students' understandings in mathematics continue to be developed through active and constructive learning.
Each of the aspects of learning in mathematics: number, measurement, geometry, probability and statistics will be addressed, along with strategies for determining what children already know and what they need to learn next.
Throughout the sessions suggestions will be made for student activities, focus questions to help move mathematical thinking forward and practices that ensure robust learning.
