The SSTUWA cares about the safety and health of members. It is a high priority for this Union and a full time Occupational Safety and Health professional is employed to ensure that this Union is a leader in the field of improving conditions for its members.
Joy Barrett is the SSTUWA's full time Occupational Safety and Health expert who is widely respected for her knowledge and practical solutions to issues affecting teachers. She is available to help and train workplace Occupational Safety and Health representatives and support members in achieving a safer school for teachers, students and the public.
All teachers are entitled to a safe work place free from physical and mental hazards and risks. The SSTUWA is committed to providing quality support and information for all teachers and community members, but in particular for safety and health representatives working in schools and colleges.
