SSTUWA MEMBERS:
Dear Member,
This communication is published as a special SSTUWA enews which contains important information concerning proposed rule changes which are necessary as a result of State Council endorsing a change to SSTUWA rules which reflects the fact that the SSTUWA is no longer an association incorporated under the Associations Incorporations Act 2015. Members are also informed of their right to object to the proposed alteration.
Please refer to the notice below.
This notice is to inform members of changes to the Union rules that were endorsed by the SSTUWA State Council at its meeting on 12th - 13th November 2021. This notice includes a copy of the rule change resolution that was passed by the State Council, together with a description of the reason for the change.
The reason for the change is in the same or similar language as was included in the Agenda for State Council and which was distributed to State Council delegates prior to the commencement of the November State Council.
It is the intention of the Union to apply to the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission (“WAIRC”) to register the proposed alteration to the rules, as decided by State Council.
PLEASE NOTE:
Members are entitled to object to the proposed alteration by forwarding a written objection to the Registrar of the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission, Level 16, 111 St George’s Terrace Perth, WA 6000.
PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO RULE 1 - NAME:
That Rule 1 - NAME be amended by the deletion of ‘(Incorporated)’ in the name of the union.
Existing rule: 1 NAME
This Union shall be called “The State School Teachers’ Union of W.A. (Incorporated)”.
Reason for Proposed Amendment:
The cancellation of the union’s registration under the Associations Incorporations Act 2015 means that the union is no longer an incorporated association for the purposes of that Act. Its status as a body corporate continues due to its registration under the Western Australian Industrial Relations Act 1979.
EFFECT OF PROPOSED AMENDMENT:
1 NAME
This Union shall be called “The State School Teachers’ Union of W.A.”
17th January, 2022.
