The SSTUWA, in partnership with TLN in Melbourne, are pleased to offer this online learning opportunity.
This session will focus on strategies and techniques that teachers can use to support students who are struggling with literacy. All teachers regardless of their nominated subject area have a responsibility to support the development of students' literacy skills and knowledge.
This session will provide a quick exploration of the key ideas in the literacy capabilities from the Australian Curriculum before sharing some ideas you can use to build students' literacy skills and knowledge. This is a practical session in which you will take away resources that you can use in your classroom, the next day. The ideas and resources will be applicable across multiple curriculum areas. The content will be suitable for teachers working across the middle years (upper primary and lower secondary).
The event will be one hour in duration and consist of live delivery of content at the specified time by a presenter and a host. You will also have an opportunity to interact with other participants and engage with the presenter online. Completing this course will contribute to one hour of professional learning and a certificate will be provided at the end of the session.
TLN is a Melbourne based, not-for-profit professional development provider supported by the Australian Education Union Victoria Branch and the Independent Education Union Victoria/Tasmania Branch. SSTUWA will be your major source of communication before the online event. Prior to the live event, SSTUWA will email you detailed instructions about how to access the online training space. TLN will then provide immediate telephone support just before the event begins on the day, and during the training if required.

We wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work. We wish to pay respect to their Elders - past, present and future - and acknowledge the important role all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within Australia. We stand in solidarity.
