The SSTUWA, in partnership with TLN in Melbourne, are pleased to offer this online learning opportunity.
Teachers in 21st century classrooms are challenged to ensure that all students can achieve success. The challenge is increased when students in the classroom have learning disabilities. All teachers need the opportunity to increase their knowledge about the major learning disabilities and to broaden their teaching strategies to differentiate to meet the needs of all students in the classroom.
In this full day program, one of Australia's leading teachers on working with students with learning disabilities will outline approaches to self-regulation and sensory processing, behavioural issues, and knowledge acquisition, experienced by those students with learning disability. There will be a focus on ASD and ADHD but the presenter has experience working with students with a wide range of learning disabilities. It is a practical, classroom focused course. The teaching strategies are tried and tested - used by the presenter in her own classroom. You will also have the opportunity to develop and share your own resources, programs and behaviour plans during the session.
The event will be five-hours in duration via ZOOM and consist of live delivery of content at the specified time by a presenter and a host. You will also have an opportunity to interact with other participants and engage with the presenter online. Completing this course will contribute to one hour of professional learning and a certificate will be provided at the end of the session.
TLN is a Melbourne based, not-for-profit professional development provider supported by the Australian Education Union Victoria Branch and the Independent Education Union Victoria/Tasmania Branch. SSTUWA will be your major source of communication before the online event. Prior to the live event, SSTUWA will email you detailed instructions about how to access the online training space. TLN will then provide immediate telephone support just before the event begins on the day, and during the training if required.

We wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work. We wish to pay respect to their Elders - past, present and future - and acknowledge the important role all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within Australia. We stand in solidarity.
