This five-day course is a statutory requirement for elected HSRs. It provides Health and Safety Representatives within the Education Department with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively perform their functions in protecting and promoting the work health and safety of those they represent. This newly developed course has been created based on the new WHS Act, 2020 and will provide updated information regarding new definitions related to the legislation and the expanded duties of parties including their functions and powers.
This course is accredited by Worksafe WA. All information regarding Health and Safety Representative (HSR) elections, training and expenses is available on the Department of Education IKON service.
The course is open to members and non-members of the SSTUWA and to all Department of Education staff.
To register in this new five-day course you must meet the following criteria:
If you are regionally based, it is important that you receive permission from the DoE to attend this event in Perth. We ask you to do this ASAP.
For permission to attend you must contact DoE, Employee Relations, OSH Team on 9264 5480 or oshteam@education.wa.edu.au
As the DoE is funding your participation, travel and expenses, they will check if there might be an alternative location for you to attend.
Once you have received permission, please forward a copy of your written approval to the Education and Training Centre here at the SSTUWA. Please send to training@sstuwa.org.au

Leave is accessed through the short leave budget - Peoplesoft Codes apply - 1471 (teaching), 1472 (non teaching). Leave does not come from the school budget.
