The SSTUWA is pleased to offer this series of LIVE online learning opportunities for all interested members and elected delegates around hot topics and different aspects of workload. Whether the topic is an individual issue or something that is happening across multiple people in your school, these sessions will provide valuable support and resources to help solve any issues.
All events will be 45 mins in duration and consist of LIVE delivery of content at a specified time by SSTUWA officers via ZOOM. You will have the opportunity to interact with other participants from across the state and engage with the presenters online. You will also explore how to collaboratively raise an issue round each of the topics.
There will be time for Q&A and often a SSTUWA Senionr Officer will join the sessions to address concerns.
Series Topics will include: Duties Other Than Teaching, Out of Hours Communication, Staff Meetings, Compliance Tasks, Class Size and more.
This session will support members to manage workload issues related to out of hours communication.
Technological advances have changed expectations around communication. Mobile phones, email, Connect and social media have created the ability for school staff to be contacted 24 hours a day.
The session will discuss important considerations including updated legislation. You will be provided with time to consider sound components of a good school communication policy, as well as email and social media guidelines. Explore the risks involved in accessing information via the internet and the outcomes of improper use.
Leave the session with ideas of reducing your workload in relation to out of hours communication.

We wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work. We wish to pay respect to their Elders - past, present and future - and acknowledge the important role all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within Australia. We stand in solidarity.
