This one-day course will provide all secondary learning area teachers with some practical literacy strategies to support their students deal with the literacy demands within their curriculum. Supporting students' literacy will promote better learning outcomes.
In middle and high school, students often encounter academic texts that provide challenges to their
comprehension. You will learn how to help your students access the texts required, support them to produce the written texts they need to demonstrate learning, and how you can use powerful speaking and listening activities to support your content learning.
The day will be broken into three workshops, each covering the literacy mode of reading, writing or speaking & listening. You will receive a handout of all the across curriculum workshop activities enabling you to start working with your students immediately.
Teachers will:
$ 100 : Members: Part Time/Relief/Student
$ 200 : Members: Full Time
