About the course
The key to managing challenging behaviour is to understand the function or purpose of the behaviour for the child and then choose the right strategy. Let us help you make that enormous task slightly easier!
This course is designed for teachers who work with K-6 children who have special educational needs and /or extreme challenging behaviour. It is not intended to be for general classroom management strategies.
Workshops are highly interactive and focus on real classroom and student scenarios.
It would be most suitable for teachers who have taught one or two extremely challenging students in the recent past.
Outcomes
In this course teachers and assistants will be asked the following questions.
- When and where does the behaviour occur?
- What happens before and after the behaviour?
- What is the child communication with their behaviour?
We will outline the six functions of behaviour and then ask .....
Now ...... What strategies do we already have that might address the challenge? Making sure the right strategy is matched with the right function.
